Free Stuff Friday

Sorry folks! I'm a few days late with my Free Stuff Friday post as we were off in the land of zero cell network and dial up.

Anyhoo let's begin!

FREE STUFF FRIDAY is my super radical new weekly post where I show you some really great stuff I've scored and what I plan to do with it!










I found this little bookshelf on my morning stroll with wonderpug. In Burlington people just put unwanted items on the street. It's probably the most amazing thing ever!





Chair found on craigslist in south Burlington. I need to either recover it or make a neat slipcover.
This little brown sofa was also included.




Both are just in need of new upholstery and are super comfy. Super plus is that they both smell nice and not smokey or catpee.




We picked up these 3 chairs. I think I'm going to paint the metal gold and keep the orange.





Yes, we watch YoGabba Gabba.

The best score of the week was this tv which has a built in DVD player.

Coconut chicken curry

Coconut curry

1 onion diced
2 cloves garlic diced
3 tablespoons butter
Carmelize onions and garlic in butter




Aprox 6 bonless skinless chicken thighs diced into cubes

Place chicken in pan when carmeluzation is compleate

Add 2 large tablespoons curry powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teasoon cayenne peper
1/4 teasoon ground Ginger




Mix well
Aprox 4 min till chicken juices run clear




Add 1 can coconut milk
Add 1 can diced tomatoes that have been purred with hand blender
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar




Let simmer for 35 minutes


Serve over rice!

Gypsy wagons

In Vermont I have come across more caravans then I have ever seen. And this gypsy family had driven cross country twice now.



This airstream was parked out front the Granville town hall during the memorial day sale.












It is really amazing.





This totally radical "wonderbus" made me so excited. It was parked on a side street in Burlington, vt.

More to come my dolls!

Gypsy daddy makes dinner.

In our family we really enjoy dinner for breakfast. Today is daddys day off, so he made his specialty...breakfast.






This is my husband, he's pretty much a badass multitasker.
He is making hashbrowns, eggs, sausages, and toast. All while talking on his iPhone.




Hashbrowns

-Shred russet potato into bowl of cold water.
-Let sit one hour.
-Drain potatoes into colander.
-Coat Pam with oil.
-Cook on medium low for 15-20 minutes per side. Until a dark golden brown. Remember to watch and don't let burn.






Sausage is from the Burlington city market co-op.






Eggs.


Soundtrack- Gogol Bordello radio via pandora for iPhone. Totally rad gypsy music.




Blues brothers toast.

Vermont!

So again my gypsy family is on the move. Today I am in Middleburry, VT and I have cell coverage so I am at a mad dash to blog.
I just wanted to let everyone know I'm still here but my posts will be sparse for a few weeks. My in laws only have dial up. Yes folks people some-places are still living in 1995.
Things on the agenda...
Today I am dreaming of having a pen pal. Anyone want to join me?
I received information about a new swap I am fulfilling. It is a ABC ISpy swap. I can't wait to show you!
One more just normal ISpy fabric swap.
I must must must finish the little persons quilt.
And wait there must be more...tattoos. I really must get my hands tattood!

Gypsy travels

I am not sure if you know this but my mother was a flight attendant for NWA, she retired a few years back after a 40+ years in service. I spent my first 12 years of life traveling with my mom. We were very privileged because we could travel for free.



This started my love of traveling very young. At 14 I moved to Utah for school and pretty much never came home for very long again. At 17 I moved across country for the first time alone, Olympia to Portland, Maine. A few times I returned back to Olympia.



Five years ago I meet my amazing partner who later became my husband. My husband is a radical artist. He is very lucky in his industry to be able to travel around to work in pretty much anyplace.



We meet in portland, Oregon eight months later we moved to san francisco, california a few months later we left for Reno.



Again we left around six months and moved across country for the first time. My man is from Philadelphia, PA born and raised. So we tried out Philly. It was amazing to see where he grew up. Experience Philly and start our family. Little man was born on Philly just like his daddy, so was the wonderpug.



After a year in Philly we traveled cross country again, back to the bay area. A few months later back to Reno.
So once again my gypsy family is traveling across to the opposite side of the county that we are now. This time we are not chasing the dollar, my poor husband has a horrible knee injury on valentines day. We are heading east to be with family while daddy-o gets surgery and gets better. This last winter in vermont was a really hard one for our family. We had two passings and a injury. So it will be good for everyone to be together.
We are flying very late. I planned this mostly because my toddler can sleep as this is probably the last time he can ride on my lap.
We are happy to be in Vermont in the spring time and be with family.



My blogging may be sparse for a week until I get settled. I do have a few new swaps I've signed up for that I am really excited to share, plus a few extra guest posts from Kneaded love a wonderful baker as well as baby clothes for a new baby cousin.

Applesauce Brownies from Living With Punks

Super EASY Mexican Rice

Super Easy Mexican rice

Heat 3 tablespoons oil in pot with tight fitting lid, add two cloves of minced garlic and 1/3 cup chopped onions. Cook until onions are translucent, add 1 cup rice. stir so rice does not burn, add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cumin, two cups chicken broth and one 6 oz can of tomato sauce. Bring to boil, lower temperature to simmer and cook rice until done around 20 minutes. Enjoy!

Enchilada Sauce Recipe

Tonight I am making a sort of spin on my own Enchiladas. I am using ground beef with a bit of burrito seasoning and cheese on the inside of the yummy enchiladas wrapped around a soft flour tortilla smothered in my home made enchilada sauce. I baked it at 350 for about 30 minutes.

Enchilada Sauce Recipe

-1 tablespoon olive oil
-two minced garlic cloves
-1/4 cup chopped onions
-1/2 teaspoon oregano
-2 teaspoons chili powder
-1/2 teaspoon dried basil
-1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
-1/8 teaspoon salt
-1/2teaspoon ground cumin
-1 teaspoon dried parsley
-1/4 cup fresh organic salsa
-one can of tomato paste
-2 cups beef broth

Heat oil in sauce pan, add garlic and onion let cook for around 2 minutes. Add all seasonings. Stir, add tomato paste and broth, bring to boil, reduce heat to simmer for about 10 minutes. Use hand blender to mix sauce. simmer for another 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!

Sorry folks about my lack of posts.
Last week here in Reno we hosted the NTA convention. All I can say is that it was pretty crazy and we are still exhausted!

So after much delay I have finally started my first I-spy quilt.
