Faro Soup

-Thinly slice one onion
-Chop two celery ribs
-One small leak sliced in white portion only
In a large pot heat 3 tablespoons olive oil over medium heat.
Add onions, celery, and leak, bring to light brown caramelization.
Add
-one cup faro that has been rinsed and drained
- one can of borlotti beans also rinsed and drained
-1 tablespoon tomato paste
Add the above ingredients
Make sure tomato paste is evenly mixed.
Add 1 quart chicken stock
1/2 cup red wine
And salt and pepper to taste
Bring to boil, cover and lower temp to simmer. Cook for around 45 minutes. Check soup often to see if more liquid is needed.
Add
1 cup frozen peas
2 carrots chopped
Cover and let simmer for an hour or so. Check often if more liquid is needed. Add chicken stock or water when needed. Faro will suck all moisture out of soup!
When soup is finished, plate and add chopped basil and parmesan cheese.
Have a fantastic Tuesday!

Ms. Tori's Pizza Sauce

My husband works late hours. Super radical plus for this little gypsy family because we get to spend the mornings together; super rad for this momma because I get quality alone time with daddy-o.
Tonight I am making pizza.
I have used a store bought pizza crust mix.
While the crust is rising I have mixed up this little recipe for pizza sauce.
Hope you all enjoy your Friday.

The power of Kitchen Gadgets

When I first met my husband we lived in Portland Oregon. The pearl district, in Portland geographic terms. I loved it. So did my husband. Where we lived was the most radical part of living in Portland at the time. Walking distance to steak, whiskey, and Bitchin good time.
Most of my days were spent window shopping in my favorite kind of stores. I bought a few things here and there. One item is this amazing cork screw.

Made by Screwpull
It is very impressive to guests. Very simple and crazyrad to use.

Please excuse any mess. My son is sick and we are still unpacking. Thus the need for the "two buck chuck"

All I did was push the leaver down.
Now pull up.

I really used no force.

Have a fantastic Thursday!

A winter wonderland
Last night i drank a bit too much diet pepsi before my husband came home. Mostly fueled by my caffeine binge and the excitement of our weekend I kept him up way too late discussing all on my mind.
Mostly it was full of this....

Two days ago we had a pretty crazy winter storm here in Reno.
I am very very impressed with the icicles on the side of our house.

Growing up in the pacific northwest we didn't really have this amazing site.

This is the wonderpug in the snow.

Rad Rag Rug Tutorial

I started by laying a full sheet folded in half widthwise on the floor.

I used my pinking shears and cut the sheet from the middle fold ever 2 inches or so.

I did not cut all the way thru.
cutting a full sheet

To create a continuous strip, cut the bottom layer of fabric and continue to clip each other fabric end.
You will end up with one large strip of fabric.

I then roll my fabric into one large ball. A super way to impress a child and pets!

After this I uses my hook and single crochet 4 and loop together with a fifth stitch to make a hole.

Fill the hole with eight single crochet.

On your second row I began to add a single crochet extra in a few holes. Mostly so my project would lay flat as well so I could come to the point where I just begin to crochet around in circle without stopping.

Now continue single crocheting around, when your project begins to curl add another single crochet.
Whalla! Your making a rug!

Before I added the grey sheet

I just feed the grey sheet in the black hole, tightened the black sheet and now there is just grey.

Black and grey sheet ends on bottom of rug can be snipped and feed thru rug to hide when finished.

We Start NEW in Reno
So much has happened in just a few months. We packed up and moved around the 1st of the year, put everything in storage and became gypsies again.
As a family we decided to go back to LA again in a few years after we have roots someplace again.
Reno was a blessing we never thought about. Here we are, in a radical home surrounded by friends and art.

Lack of blogging
I feel terrible, I haven't been blogging very much in the last week. I am sorry. The next week or so will be scattered with posts. I will try and catch up on my weekend and Christmas.
Personally my little gypsy family is going to be making another move. More to come in the next few days. But I can say....

Packing blows!
